Musician Spotlight

Teya Applegate
Instrument: Violin
Teya was born in Hawaii where she lived with her family until she was 13, when they moved to Utah county. She grew up in a musical family and started playing the violin at the age of four, initially taught by her mother. Teya started private lessons soon after and participated in numerous school orchestras, as well as the Timpanogos Symphony Orchestra and Lyceum Philharmonic, and BYU’s University Orchestra.

Cari Bennion
Instrument: Flute
Cari Bennion has been been playing the flute since she was 9 years old. She played all through high school and college, but not much after, except on occasion to accompany church choirs. She desperately missed playing with a group and says she can remember exactly where she was when a friend called to tell her that the Hurricane Valley Symphony was starting. Cari has been playing with the Symphony since its founding in 2018. Coming to symphony rehearsal is the highlight of her week.
