Janelle Ruesch

Instruments: Cello, Violin, Voice, Conducting

Janelle began playing the cello when she was sixth grade and her cello was larger than she was. She played through high school and college, where she completed a degree in music education with a vocal emphasis. Janelle is one of the four founders of the Hurricane Valley Symphony and has played in and conducted it from the very beginning. Her son William plays the bass with the symphony whenever his busy high school schedule allows. In addition to playing the violin in the symphony, Janelle sings in the Hurricane Valley Choir.

Janelle was born in Tillamook, Oregon – where the cheese comes from. Her father was later transferred to Flagstaff, Arizona for work and that is where she finished elementary, junior high, and most of high school. Her orchestra teachers were William Cummings and Clarence Shaw, who both inspired her to become a music teacher. She boasts a cello lesson with the famous Nadine Bean of Northern Arizona University.

Janelle currently lives in La Verkin with her husband Brent. They are blessed with four children: three boys and a girl, all redheaded. They currently have two cats, five chickens, and a bunny.
