Instruments: Bass Trombone, Tuba

Brian has played the trombone and tuba since high school. He is the band director at Hurricane Intermediate School. He holds degrees in Music Education from Snow College and the University of Utah, and earned a Master’s degree in Conducting from Sam Houston State University.

With 19 years of teaching experience ranging from 6th grade through college, Brian has directed a wide variety of ensembles including concert bands, jazz bands, choirs, percussion ensembles, and more — many of which have performed at state music festivals.

He is the owner of SevierBand.com, a platform offering custom arrangements and resources for band programs, and Sevier Piano Tuning, which provides professional piano tuning and maintenance services.

Brian’s contributions to music education have been recognized with several honors, including Music Teacher of the Year – UHSAA (2021), the Utah Bandmasters’ Service to Music Education Award(2022), and being named a Quarterfinalist for the Grammy Music Educator Award in 2019.

Brian has been with the Hurricane Valley Symphony since 2024 and resides in Hurricane.
