Instrument: Violin
Anita has been playing the violin since she was ten years old. While in high school she went to All-State orchestra. She went on to play in college under Southern Utah University’s esteemed Professor Roy Halverson. She continued after college playing off and on with small groups and duets. Anita also played in the Messiah through high school, college, and beyond with the community Orchestra in Cedar City.
Playing in the symphony has turned into a family affair for Anita. She thought she had retired from playing until her son, Scott, who plays the trumpet, talked her into playing with him in the Hurricane Valley symphony. Together they play alongside Scott’s daughter, Eliza, who plays the clarinet.
Anita has two sons, two daughters, and fourteen grandchildren. Her other hobbies include church activities, reading, and holiday decorating. She grew up in Cedar City, Utah, and currently lives in Washington, Utah, with her husband Rod. Anita has enjoyed playing in the symphony very much. She wishes the arthritis in her hands would be more helpful to her playing than it currently is.
