Instruments: Viola, Violin, Cello, Bass, Piano
Krystin started piano lessons when she was in 4th grade. She began playing the viola in 6th grade after joining her school orchestra. She played viola through high school and then continued in college at SUU while she got her degree in music education.
During college Krystin studied under Ling Yu and Xun Sun. She also played with the Southern Utah Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestra of Southern Utah. Following college, she played with the Cache Valley Symphony in Logan, Utah, as well as the American Festival Chorus and Orchestra under the direction of Craig Jessop. She currently is in her fifth year teaching Orchestra at Hurricane Intermediate School and loves it.
This is Krystin’s second year playing with the Hurricane Valley Symphony. She enjoys having the opportunity to once again play with her sister, Katelyn Johnson, who is a cello player in the symphony.
Krystin grew up in Roosevelt, Utah, and attended Union High School. She has lived in Hurricane for just over five years. Besides music, she enjoys reading, baking, and spending time with her family. She and her husband Spencer have one daughter, Lilly (7), as well as 11 pet chickens.
